A SINTAXE DAS ORAÇÕES RELATIVAS NÃO SEGMENTAIS EM CINYANJA

Resumo
A presente pesquisa apresenta uma proposta de análise das orações relativas não segmentais em Cinyanja, uma língua do grupo Bantu (N31). Os dados analisados foram seleccionados pelo autor, fazendo intervir a competência linguística de falante nativo da língua. Antes da análise, as frases foram também submetidas a outros falantes e professores da língua para a certificação da sua gramaticalidade e aceitabilidade. Em Cinyanja, para além dos recursos segmentais, que envolvem o marcador –mene e o sufixo relativo –o, colocado à direita da última palavra da oração, as orações relativas podem também ser formadas com recurso ao tom alto (com ou sem o sufixo relativo -o). Nesta última estratégia de relativização, o sujeito aparece obrigatoriamente em posição pós-verbal. Assim, as relativas não segmentais são analisadas como estruturas em que C+wh tem um estatuto idêntico ao dos marcadores relativos clíticos que aparecem incorporados na estrutura do complexo verbal em outras línguas Bantu (Demuth e Harford,1999), que tipicamente desencadeiam a inversão do sujeito. Como o marcador relativo é um elemento sem matriz fonológica, comporta-se como uma forma clítica e deve afixar-se a T. Assumindo o modelo da Morfologia Distribuída (HALLE e MARANTZ, 1993), defende-se que a afixação de C a T se dá no nível pós-sintático da gramática, sob adjacência. O sujeito permanece in situ, em Spec-VP, obtendo-se os mesmos padrões de ordem de palavras das frases simples com sujeito em posição pós-verbal, nomeadamente VOS ou, na presença da marca de concordância com o objecto, VSO.
